Why f2o.org is asking for your help

For almost four years, freedom2operate has been the premier destination on the Web for thousands of developers to come to when they've needed high quality free web hosting to learn new skills, improve existing skills, and network with other developers in a robust, friendly, and open environment.

As you may know, in order to offset the costs associated with running the services we provide to over three thousand people, we also offer paid hosting services in addition to our free hosting services, and this has provided a sustainable way to finance the continued growth of freedom2operate over the past three and a half years.

While our paid hosting services have provided consistent and sustainable revenue over the years, we've used events like a server drive or other fundraisers to generate larger sums of money that have allowed us to make 'big' purchases so we can take on more free accounts. Thanks to the generosity of members of the f2o.org community, the proceeds from these events have helped us to raise the up-front capital to purchase new servers and equipment, which allowed us to continue to grow.

However, we've been trying to find a more sustainable way to generate extra funds to increase the size of the f2o.org community over the years that doesn't involve once-a-year events like a fundraiser, which while successful, don't provide the consistent level of funding it takes to run f2o.org year-round.

To help achieve our goal of continually increasing the number of people who can participate in the f2o.org community, we're going to be allowing f2o.org account holders to place f2o.org-approved Google AdSense advertisements on their accounts, the proceeds of which will be funneled to a central f2o.org AdSense account and used to purchase new servers and bandwidth.

NOTE: We're continuing to enforce our policy of not allowing third party banner ads on free account web sites, but we will be allowing (and encouraging!) free accounts holders to display f2o.org-approved Google AdSense advertisements on their web sites. No other Google AdSense ads will be allowed on accounts except those which f2o.org has created and are shown below.

When you display these f2o.org-supporting Google AdSense ads (shown below) on your web site, the proceeds of any clickthroughs will be used to purchase new equipment that will allow us to open our free account applications and provide the opportunities that f2o.org is so well known for. We have no idea what kind of revenue to expect from this program yet, but hopefully enough f2o.org members will take part to make it as successful as possible! Placing f2o.org supporting ads on your web site

Getting started is easy! Right now, we offer four different kinds of ads to place on your web site. Just copy and paste the code below directly into your web pages. You can place a maximum of three ads on each page by adding multiple instances of the ad code. Please make sure to paste the ad code into your source without making any changes to the code, including changes to punctuation, spacing, or line breaks. This is important, as changing the code in any way can cause errors on your page (and is against the AdSense program policies).
